Borderlands 3 is a first-person shooter action video game developed by Gearbox Software and the fourth major installment in the Borderlands series. Players can play alone or in teams of up to four players, creating a character from one of four available classes and completing missions from non-playable characters (NPCs) and a reward board to earn experience points, in-game cash prizes, and item rewards. Players can also earn these items by defeating opponents during the game. As players level up, they earn skill points that can be allocated to skills. The game introduces four new playable characters:
Amara, a burly ring-wielding Siren; Moose, a young “gunslinger” who rides a mechanical elephant; Zane, a “rep” who wields gadgets; and FL4K, a non-binary robot known as the “Beast Master” who summons creatures to aid in battle. Unlike previous Borderlands games, where each player can only activate one special skill while resting, each character in the new game can unlock three special skills, although they can only equip one at a time (or, in Zane’s case, two), which greatly expands the number of possible character abilities.
